Joshua Rydell was born in Buffalo, New York and moved to Florida after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware. After completion of his college education, he moved to Broward County, Florida and attended Nova Southeastern University’s Law Center, where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree. He started his legal career at the Broward County Public Defenders Office and soon went on to open his own boutique firm, The Law Offices of Joshua D. Rydell, with a focus in criminal and civil litigation as well as administrative professional representations. Over the years, Mr. Rydell has continued to handle a variety of criminal cases, including many high-profile cases. As a result, Mr. Rydell has gained substantial experience defending matters before The Florida Bar.
In 2015, at the age of 33, Josh was elected to the Coconut Creek City Commission becoming the youngest elected official in the cities history. Since his election he has served as the Mayor as well as the Vice Mayor. Mr. Rydell has served as an appointed member of Broward County’s Substance Abuse Advisory Board, and was a part of the upgrading and funding of the new Broward Addiction recovery Center, which we know as BARC. He was appointed by late Walter “Skip” Campbell to serve on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, ultimately serving as the committee chair. He also sits on the Board of Florida’s Children First; a State-wide non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of at risk children. He has served over the past four years as the chair of the Broward County Bar Associations County and Municipal Affairs committee, ensuring that our local lawyers have access and engagement with their local governments. Most recently he has been advocating for better environmental practices in Broward County in addressing the future of waste and recycling. All this aside, if you know him, he would tell you his most important title is that of husband and father.
